Ambit Biosciences has raised approximately $105 million to date. In addition to our rounds of venture capital financing, we've received equity investments from multiple partners. We also leverage the revenues from our KINOMEscan collaborations to offset our equity financing.

Our investors include:

  • Apposite Capital - Apposite Capital LLP is a single sector fund investing in both life sciences and healthcare services on an international basis. Based in London, Apposite was established by the Mizuho Financial Group, one of Japan's largest financial services companies.
  • MedImmune Ventures - MedImmune Ventures, Inc. is a wholly owned venture capital subsidiary of MedImmune, Inc. It was created in 2002 to leverage the company's expertise in discovering, developing and commercializing biotechnology products, as well as its financial resources, to transform new ideas in biotechnology into successful products and companies. Seeded with an initial $100 million in 2002 and allocated an additional $100 million in February 2005, MedImmune Ventures invests up to $20 million per company with an average investment of about $7 million.
  • OrbiMed Advisors - OrbiMed is the world's largest healthcare-dedicated investment firm, with over $6 billion in assets under management. OrbiMed's investment advisory business was founded in 1989 with a vision to invest across the spectrum of healthcare companies: from private start-ups to large multinational companies.
  • Radius Ventures - Radius Ventures is a venture capital firm focused on leading-edge health and life sciences companies. Investments are sought across a wide spectrum, including biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, medical devices, services, and healthcare/life sciences information technology. Radius currently manages approximately $150 million in committed capital.
  • NovaQuest - NovaQuest, the strategic partnering group of Quintiles Transnational, is an industry pioneer in offering tailored financial and operational solutions that help pharmaceutical and biotech companies overcome development and commercialization challenges, including leveraging virtual clinical development models. Since 2000, NovaQuest partnerships have committed more than $2 billion in capital to pharmaceutical and biotech companies of all sizes.
  • Horizon Technology Finance - Horizon Technology Finance is a venture debt finance company that offers creative financing solutions to development-stage technology companies in the life sciences, health care, IT and software industries. Over the last four years, the firm has committed more than $600 million in loans to more than 85 companies.
  • Avalon Ventures - Avalon Ventures is one of the longest-standing venture capital firms in San Diego, investing in life sciences and information technology opportunities locally and around the country since 1983 through six Avalon Ventures funds. The collective market capitalization of Avalon Ventures' portfolio companies (most founded by Avalon partners) currently exceeds $5 billion.
  • Perseus-Soros Biopharmaceutical Fund - Perseus L.L.C., with Soros Fund Management, has co-sponsored the Perseus-Soros BioPharmaceutical Fund, founded in 2000 to invest in a broad range of life science transactions. The fund has invested $307.7 million as of September 30, 2005 to advance biopharmaceutical products and create businesses based on advanced life science technologies.
  • Forward Ventures - Forward Ventures was founded in 1993 and is Southern California's largest venture fund focused exclusively on life sciences. The fund invests in early, mid and late stage biopharmaceutical and device companies and currently has approximately $500 million in capital under management. The most recent fund, Forward V, continues Forward Ventures' program of life sciences and health care venture investing in companies of all stages.
  • Roche Venture Fund - The Roche Venture Fund invests in early stage biotech and diagnostics companies to support innovative technologies and medicines. Based in Basel, Switzerland, the Roche Venture Fund invests globally with a portfolio of over 25 companies in 10 countries.
  • GIMV - GIMV is a Belgian investment company established in 1980. It's venture capital is invested primarily in ICT and Life Sciences while it also provides growth capital and undertakes management buy-outs (MBOs) in more traditional industries. The portfolio maintains a balance among start-up companies, fast growth companies and major enterprises.
  • Genechem Management - GeneChem manages the GeneChem Technologies Venture Fund L.P., launched in early 1997 to take advantage of the increasing opportunities within the genomics industry, and the Therapeutics Venture Fund L.P., which invests within the genomics industry specifically in companies developing therapeutics for proliferative disorders including cancer, infectious diseases, inflammation and diabetes. The funds have more than $236 million in committed capital.
  • Bristol-Myers Squibb Company - Bristol-Myers Squibb is a global pharmaceutical and related healthcare products company whose mission is to extend and enhance human life. For more than a decade, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company has been a global leader in the science of infectious diseases and has invested consistently in innovative research leading to the development of important treatments.
